TBA   Take A Friend Snowmobiling Group Ride – As part of international Take a Friend Snowmobiling Week, the K.S.A. will be hosting a Take A Friend Snowmobiling group ride in the Whitehorse area. Do you know someone who doesn’t snowmobile but is interested in giving it a try? Bring them along! Please note the K.S.A. will lead the way but each participant will be responsible for their own snowmobile, riding gear, gas, etc. Please dress appropriately and bring enough gas etc. for a couple hours of riding. We will meet at the Fish Lake Road / Copper Haul Trail staging area and then choose a route based on weather, trail conditions and skill levels of the riders present (we will however plan to keep to fairly easy trails for beginner riders).

TBA     Dawson Overland Group Ride –  Date to be selected sometime in January or early February 2018.  Please contact us if you are interested in partaking and have a preference for specific dates.  The K.S.A. is hosting a group snowmobile ride from Whitehorse to Braeburn on the historic Dawson Overland Trail, pending adequate snow and trail conditions (please check with us the evening prior for confirmation). All riders are welcome to come but please note this is a full day of riding with a round trip of approximately 200 km on a remote wilderness trail. The K.S.A. will lead the way but each rider will be responsible for their own sled, gas, food, equipment, and transport to and from the staging area. We will be meeting at the staging area on the Takhini River Road early that morning for a quick meet and brief before we hit the trail, having lunch at Braeburn Lodge, and then aiming to be back at the staging area some time that evening. We typically also stop for a short break at several historic sites along the way and set the pace based on the riders that show up.

Notes: * Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the National Historic Parks General Regulations, the use of over-snow vehicles in the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site of Canada (CTNHS) is designated as restricted, prohibiting their use during NON- MOTORIZED weekends.  This includes the operation, loading, and unloading of over-snow vehicles in the entire CTNHS, including the Log Cabin parking lot.  Non-motorized weekends include all of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and are generally scheduled as every third weekend throughout the winter season, as identified on the above schedule.  All other days are considered “multi-use” with snowmobiles allowed. The schedule for each season is usually made available some time in November and posted here shortly after.  Any questions or comments regarding the CTNHS please contact Parks Canada at (867) 667-3910 or 1-800-661-0486, or visit http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/yt/chilkoot/activ/2.aspx.
