November 2022

07     Klondike Snowmobile Association Annual General Meeting – Everyone is welcome to attend!  Meeting starts at 7 pm at Sport Yukon board room 1, use centre door (4061 4th Avenue in Whitehorse).  Phone in option is also available, please contact us for details.  We will be reviewing the past year, electing the 2022/2023 Board of Directors, voting in our new K.S.A. constitution and bylaws as required by the new Societies Act, and discussing the upcoming season.  If you are interested in getting involved with the K.S.A. this is a perfect place to start!  Details of the Special Resolution and PDF copies of the proposed new K.S.A. constitution and bylaws are posted on our news page at https://ksa.yk.ca/news/newksasocietyconstitutionandbylaws/ for members to review prior to the meeting.  Please contact us any time if you require more information!

11-20     International Take A Friend Snowmobiling Week – Do you know someone who doesn’t go snowmobiling but might want to try it?  Surveys show many people are interested in snowmobiling but aren’t sure where or how to get started, so International Take A Friend Snowmobiling Week is here as your perfect excuse to invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers out for a ride and show them what snowmobiling is all about!  Take them out on your own time or join one of the many beginner level group rides being hosted by snowmobile clubs and associations around the world.

11    Annual K.S.A. Take A Friend Snowmobiling Group Ride – To celebrate International Take A Friend Snowmobiling Week we will be hosting our annual Take A Friend Snowmobiling group ride in Whitehorse on Saturday 11 February 2022.
– This ride is free and open to everyone, and we will be on trails and routes suitable for beginners so riders of all skill levels and snowmobiles of all types are welcome to join.
– Ride starts at 11 am sharp at the Fish Lake Road / Copper Haul staging area and we plan to be back at the staging area by late afternoon.  Route will be chosen based on riders present.
– K.S.A. will lead the way however all participants will be responsible for bringing their own snowmobile, fuel and gear. 
– Packing a light lunch and some snacks is recommended as we will be stopping for several short breaks at various points of interest along the way.
– Bring your friends and introduce them to the world of snowmobiling!

11    Annual K.S.A. Dawson Overland Trail Group Ride – Our annual group ride on the historic Dawson Overland Trail.  This trip we will be riding from the Takhini River Road staging area to the half way cabin and return with a few opportunities to explore small side trips.
– Everyone is welcome to join however all participants will be responsible for their own snowmobile, fuel, gear, etc. 
– Packing a lunch and some snacks is recommended.

– Pease be aware this will be a long day of riding on a remote wilderness trail where rough trail conditions and cold weather are likely to be encountered.
– Ride departs at 9 am from the Takhini River Road staging area and we expect to return to the staging area that evening.
– If you have any questions or need some directions please let us know!

16-22  National Volunteer Week – The Klondike Snowmobile Association is proudly volunteer operated, and our volunteers have been working hard for you year-round for over 40 years. National Volunteer Week is a great opportunity for you to join us in saying a huge thank you to all of our past and present volunteers!

03     International Trails Day – A day to celebrate trails of all kinds and the healthy lifestyles they encourage, as well as the many hard working volunteers who maintain them.  Spend some time fixing up your favourite trail or just get out and enjoy an afternoon on the trails!

Notes:

*Pursuant to Section 12(1) of the National Historic Parks General Regulations, the use of snowmobiles in the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site (CTNHS) is designated as
restricted, prohibiting their use during Non-Motorized Weekends. This includes the
operation, loading, and unloading of snowmobiles in the entire CTNHS, including the Log Cabin parking lot. Non-motorized weekends extend from 1:00AM on Friday through 12:00 Midnight on Sunday, as identified on the above schedule.
