Copper Haul Road Fire Break Update

Starting in October 2025 and continuing through May 2026, fire break work will be happening on and around the Copper Haul Road between the Mount Sima Road and McLean Lake Road.

About 70 hectares of vegetation will be cleared, and then the area will be cleaned up and replanted with more fire-resistant aspen seedlings during the summer of 2026.

Public access to the Copper Haul Road will remain open. The usual closure to wheeled traffic from November 1st through March 31st will continue to apply. One lane of the road will be plowed during winter for crews and equipment to use and one lane will be left snow covered for all of the usual winter uses.
