Copper Haul Spring Plowing

26 March 2025 update: Plowing has commenced.

The City of Whitehorse has informed us that they intend to plow the Copper Haul Road down to bare surface some time this week between 23 and 29 March 2025.

Unfortunately this will likely make the trail un-useable for snowmobilers. They have provided us the following reasoning:

There has been road work in recent years to repair sections in coordination with the City Engineering and the Fire Department, and the direction has been given that it has to be maintained as a fire access roadway in case of emergencies. Unfortunately the risk of damage if they don’t plow it soon is the possibility for substandard conditions and safety issues to develop, as well as the potential of large costs to resurface it following all the work that’s been done in recent years to get it up to the standard that it’s at now.
