Copper Haul Update – 20 February 2020
20 February 2020 – Klondike Snowmobile Association
In December 2019 the City of Whitehorse closed a portion of the Copper Haul Road between Mt. Sima road and the McLean Lake trail to allow crews and equipment to work on a large fire smart project. Work is proceeding well, however as of 20 February 2020 this section of the Copper Haul remains closed as work continues and is expected to remain closed well into March. We are continuing to recommend snowmobilers and other multi-use trail users utilize alternate routes for now.
Further, on 19 February 2020 work started on the next phase of this fire smart program which involves crews and equipment working on the Copper Haul road between the Sima Creek crossing and the Wolf Creek crossing. This section of trail is not closed as of yet but there are crews and equipment working on the trail so please slow down and use extra caution in this area.
If you have any questions or concerns about this fire smart project please contact us or the City of Whitehorse.
