Group Rides & Grooming Operations Update

Group Rides & Grooming Operations Update

22 December 2025 – Klondike Snowmobile Association

Hello Yukon Snowmobilers! We hope y’all are staying warm and enjoying the festive season. Here’s a quick K.S.A. update:

Group Rides Update: We had planned to kick off this winter’s group snowmobile ride series with a fun ride around Whitehorse in December. In early December we had limited snow so our volunteers held off until more snow arrived, and arrive it did! Unfortunately with the snow also came a prolonged period of very cold temperatures, beyond what we consider fun. When the weather does warm up again we will announce our first group ride, so please keep an eye on our Events page for updates.

Grooming Update: Our groomers have also been parked for the past couple weeks due to prolonged cold weather. Cutoff temperature is up to operator discretion, but typically few if any volunteers are willing to be out below -30. We support this cutoff as groomed snow doesn’t set as well and also equipment malfunctions also tend to increase when temperatures are below -30. We do have groomers itching to get going once it warms up again and our fleet is ready. Check out our Trail Conditions page any time to see where our groomers have been!

All other areas of the Klondike Snowmobile Association continue to hum along. Most of our volunteers will be taking a short break for the holidays, but we’ll be back at it before the new year starts!
