K.S.A. New Groomer Update
22 October 2017 – Klondike Snowmobile Association
Our new trail groomer has arrived! We’re proud to announce the arrival of our latest and greatest trail grooming machine, a Kubota RTV1100.
We’ve received it on wheels and will operate on wheels initially for a break in period, and then we’ll be converting it to tracks for winter trail grooming. We also have a new grooming drag for it, a Mogul Master that is very similar to the ones we tow with our wide track snowmobiles but in a larger size that is better matched to our new Kubota.
Our current plan is to use our new groomer on our wide main line trails, and continue to operate our Ski-Doo and Polaris wide-track snowmobiles for grooming smaller trails.
This new machine is significantly larger and more capable than our current grooming fleet, which will allow us to groom wider main line trails more efficiently and effectively. It also has the benefit of a heated cab for increased operator comfort for our hard working volunteers. We’re excited to see it on trails near you this season!
We’d like to shout out a huge thank you to TotalTrac Yukon for their generous help with sourcing, acquiring, and setting up this new groomer. They have been great to deal with and made sure we got the best possible deals they could offer us. We’d also like to thank the Community Development Fund, the Yukon Government, and our K.S.A. Members for the financial assistance.
Although the new groomer has arrived, we still have some set up to do, and we’re still hoping our members can help us out with it. Check out www.gofundme.com/ksagroomer to see how you can help! Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated.
