Ride Safe, Ride Sober

Ride Safe, Ride Sober

01 December 2023 – Klondike Snowmobile Association

With another holiday season upon us, we’d like to remind everyone to please ride safe, and ride sober.

Alcohol and drug use continues to be a major factor in approximately half of all snowmobile related fatalities in Canada. Having some refreshments with friends is a great way to wind down after a good ride, but please wait until the snowmobiles are put away before you open any alcoholic beverages or other drugs. Zero tolerance we say, till we’re done for the day.

In addition to the safety concerns, here in the Yukon, as well as most other places in Canada, the laws regarding impaired driving do also apply to snowmobiles. You can be arrested, have your snowmobile impounded, be charged with impaired driving, and potentially lose your drivers license if you operate a snowmobile while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

You can make snowmobiling safe by being a safe and sober rider, and by encouraging your friends to do the same.
